Citizens of India have the right to vote in elections by voter id card. But there are chances that the voter migrates from one place to another in India then he/she can vote but for that, they need to transfer the voter id cards in the current constituency.
There are two types of transfer that happens:
If you shift from one constituency to another then you have to change the address on the voter id card. Or you can click on the link to change the address How to Update Voter Id Card The need for address change occurs because your name which is now, in the electoral roll in the old constituency must be shifted to the electoral roll of the new constituency. Follow the below steps to do it:
Open any search engine and serch National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) and visit the official website. click Login/Register button
After login, click on the tab Migrate To Another Place.
Choose the details according to you. Here you have two choices :
This will redirect to you a page where you get Form 6. Here, Fill in all the required details:
Provide your personal details like :
Complete the Declaration Section by providing the address of that place where you live before and have the voter id of that place with you. And verify yourself by captcha code and click on the Submit button.
Now you will receive an email with a link. The link lets you know the status of your voter id card.
Within 30 days you can get your voter id card. Because processing takes time.
