• Shalin Bhanot’s wife Dalljiet Kaur filed a case against him for domestic violence and extramarital affairs. She said his family was demanding dowry from dalljiet’s parents.
• In an interview dalljiet said "Shaleen physically assaulted me, while my in-laws stood as mute spectators. On 30th November Shaleen caught my neck and banged my head on the wall and threw me on the furniture, and then locked me into a room for 40 minutes until I was finally rescued by the housemaid. I took the final decision to separate from my husband when he attacked me while I was holding our newborn son.”
• Shalin denied the obligation of Dalljiet in an interview he said "She is a retired army officer’s daughter. So, why would I marry someone who wasn’t financially very strong if I wanted a dowry? Dalljiet blamed Shalin for not giving the amount ordered by High Court and she said "They wear only branded clothes, and dine at posh Five Star Hotels and Restaurants. They shop at some of the best places. They gift each other expensive gifts on birthdays and other important occasions which is never less than Rs. One lakh. They usually travel abroad for holidays. While holidaying out, they stay only in suites in the best of hotels/ resorts. They spend extravagantly on family functions.”
